Inchcape’s new single-floor workplace brings their “Better Together” vision to life. It’s a flexible environment with acoustic neighbourhoods, hybrid work support and abundant natural light, designed to strengthen culture, connection and employee experience.
Inchcape, a global automotive distributor and retailer, needed a workplace that would break down silos and bring their people together. Their existing office spanned multiple disconnected floors, limiting collaboration and connectivity. The brief was to create a space that could support a hybrid way of working, unify business units and reflect Inchcape’s global brand.
We partnered with Inchcape from the outset, delivering a full service from workplace strategy to design and construction. Through staff workshops and business unit briefings, we helped Inchcape decide to relocate to a single-floor workplace designed around flexibility, connection and performance.
The solution blends fixed and sit/stand workstations with quiet zones and activated zones for louder teams. A large breakout space forms the communal heart, doubling as an event space connected to training rooms for town halls and functions. Collaborative project rooms, a corridor of agile zones and a secure strategy room ensure teams can work in focused or dynamic ways as needed. A multi-purpose wellness room reflects Inchcape’s inclusive culture, while biophilic design and perimeter-wide windows maximise light and comfort.
The design follows Inchcape’s global brand guidelines, with a strong emphasis on the signature timber elements seen across their international offices. Brand colours of blue, grey and yellow appear throughout in acoustic panelling, upholstery, custom graphics and carpet. A curated AV installation in the reception showcases the broader family of brands under the Inchcape umbrella.
Our new space is beautiful, functional and we have achieved a level of design that complements Inchcape’s values. It will allow our teams to collaborate and work flexibly. Crest have been a pleasure to work with. Each member of the team have listened to our needs, taken on board feedback and worked through various solutions to any issues that have been raised.Cameron Leitch, Head of Property, Inchcape
